Timothy Todd Simmons is in his third year as Director of Music at Torrey Pines Christian Church. In addition, he recently concluded his thirteenth season as the Chorus Master at San Diego Opera. Some of the choruses which he has prepared for San Diego Opera include Tannhäuser, Cavalleria Rusticana/I Pagliacci, Madama Butterfly, Romeo et Juliette, Falstaff, Unballo in maschera, Il Trovatore, Lohengrin, Faust, Aïda, Verdi's Requiem, Rigoletto, Tosca, Flying Dutchman, Fidelio, Norma, Otello, Turandot, Pearl Fishers, Don Carlo, Katya KabanovaandLa Traviata. Between 1998 and 2006, Simmons was Director of Music at Mission Hills United Church of Christ where he has conducted such great choral pieces as Vivaldi's Gloria and Magnificat, Schubert's Mass in G, Britten's Ceremony of Carols, Gounod's St. Cecilia Mass, Respighi's Laud to the Nativity, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, Bach's Christmas Oratorio, Beethoven's Mass in C, Vaughan Williams' Hodie, Faure's Cantique de Jean Racine and Requiem, Puccini's Messadi Gloria and Mozart's Davidde Penitente. He made his debut the Summer of 2003 with Pacem (Pacific Academy of Ecclesiastical Music) conducting Mozart's Mass in C minor. Simmons graduated with honors with his Bachelor of Music degree from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, where he majored in Vocal Performance and minored in Piano. He entered Indiana University as a Masters student in Vocal Performance, eventually converting his major to Choral Conducting, in which he received his Master of Music degree, while minoring in Vocal Performance and Opera Coaching. His conducting and musical directing credits at Indiana University included Ariadne auf Naxos, Dido and Aeneas, Idomeneo, Le Nozze di Figaro, I Pagliacci, Beauty and the Beast (Giannini) and many others.
