Sunday, February 28, 1999 at St. Paul’s Cathedral:
Organist Alison Luedecke and the Millennia Consort and friends (a total of 12 instrumentalists) were featured in a concert of new and recent music for organ and brass at St. Paul’s Cathedral. This was followed by a gala reception honoring the founding of PACEM.


Friday, April 23, 1999 at Trinity Church, Escondido:
Partial sponsorship of Camerata Nueva España’s concert of Mexican Renaissance and Baroque music.


June, 1999
PACEM announced that it will donate the first prize of $2,001 for the winner of the American Guild of Organists’ Regional Competition for young organists, to be held in San Diego in July, 2001.


July, 1999
Founding Directors Ty and Penelope Smith and Executive Director Sturk attended the Berkshire Choral Festival in Massachusetts, where they participated as singers in a concert under the direction of David Flood, organist and master of the choristers at Canterbury Cathedral in England.

Support was given for a workshop for young string players presented by the Young Artists Symphony Orchestra in the cathedral.


Friday, August 13, 1999 at St. Paul’s Cathedral:
Gilbert & Sullivan “Singalong” presented in the Great Hall. In addition to Cathedral and Diocesan clergy, participants included many fine guest soloists. The event was a fundraiser for the new building which will house PACEM, Cathedral Music and Diocesan offices.


August, 1999
Sponsorship of a two-week summer music program at St. John’s Church, Chula Vista, to underwrite scholarships for children otherwise unable to attend.


Saturday, September 25, 1999 at St. Paul’s Cathedral:
PACEM Executive Director conducted Duke Ellington’s “Sacred Concert” with soloists and a jazz band in the cathedral. The chorus was made up of nearly 90 singers from around the county.


Sunday, October 31, 1999 at St. Paul’s Cathedral:
PACEM presented Camerata Nueva España, a chorus with period instruments, in a concert of Renaissance and Baroque music from colonial Mexico. The concert, with bilingual narration, was part of the St. Paul’s Cathedral’s “Day of the Dead” celebration.


December, 1999:
Major sponsorship of the Cathedral Center for Performing and Visual Arts’ production of “Amahl and the Night Visitors.”
